Chad Austin has been involved with running since he was 10 years old. As a kid he tagged along with his parents to road races, but instead of cheering from the sideline he would join them, running distances up to half marathon. He ran track and cross-country at UW-Eau Claire before venturing up to the marathon soon after graduation. He’s now completed 20 marathons, along with a handful of ultramarathons, including one 50 miler. One of his missions in life is to promote the sport of running in Minnesota. He's done that through his Q&A blog with top local runners (, coaching youth cross-country for the last 9 years, and writing for MDRA’s RunMinnesota since 2005. He also operates his own running and health coaching business at He’s constantly amazed at the people, places, and experiences that running has brought into his life.
